Physicists Discover How To Teleport Energy

Wow. Si esto es verdad las aplicaciones son infinitas.
MikeChino writes "A physicist at Tohoku University in Japan has figured out how to teleport energy from one point in the universe to another. The technique is based upon prior research that shows it's possible to teleport information from one location to another, and involves making a measurement on each [of] an entangled pair of particles. The measurement on the first particle injects quantum energy into the system, and then by carefully choosing the measurement to do on the second particle, it is possible to extract the original energy. Heady stuff, but essentially it means that you can inject energy at one point in the universe and extract it from somewhere else without changing the energy of the system as a whole."

Wind-Powered Highway Lights Disconnect From the Grid [Concepts]

As far as practical renewable energy concepts go, these wind-powered highway lights are pretty elegant. And from my layman's perspective, they seem to be practical and realistic. I like 'em! [Turbine Light via Inhabitat]

Earth's Last Frontier: The Last Unclaimed Land on Earth

Source: http://www.neatorama.com/2010/02/05/earths-last-frontier-the-last-unclaimed-land-on-earth/

Marie Byrd Land and Bir Tawil Triangle are the only two land areas on Earth not claimed by any country.

Marie Byrd Land is a portion of Antarctica so remote that no country in the world bothered to claim it. It’s the single largest unclaimed territory on Earth.

Bir Tawil Triangle likely has no owner because of some administrative snafu. First of all, despite of its name, it’s not a triangle at all. In fact, it has a trapezoidal shape. In 1899, when the British drew the map between Egypt and Sudan, Bir Tawil was put in Sudan’s territory (which Egypt accepted). However, in 1902, when Sudan drew its own map, it put Bir Tawil on the Egyptian side! So far, neither country bothered to lay claim to this patch of land.

It was no big loss, however, as Bir Tawil is full of sand and a whole lot of nothing.

Dinosaurs Looked Like Giant Chickens

If you think that dinosaurs looked like giant lizards, you’d be forgiven as that has been the depiction in stories, movies, and even in school textbooks. Scientists, however, have recently reached a different conclusion: dinos actually looked like giant chickens!

The subject of the new study—the 155-million-year-old Anchiornis huxleyi—turns out to have looked something like a woodpecker the size of a chicken, with black-and-white spangled wings and a rusty red crown [...]

The color patterns on Anchiornis’s limbs are "quite similar to the silver-spangled Hamburg chicken, a domestic breed of ornamental chicken," said ornithologist Richard Prum of Yale University.
